ALL ABOUT FRIENDLY MARYLAND TRAVELERS RV CLUB

In May of 1971 a few fellow RVers met in the town of Friendly, Maryland to form a camping club.  They had various styles of campers, but they each had a mutual love for camping, camaraderie, and stewardship. They were familiar with an up-and-coming organization called Good Sam, derived from the parable the Good Samaritan. They embraced the idea that they could be part of a growing membership of trustworthy RVers who would be willing to offer assistance to fellow campers.  The Friendly Maryland Travelers Club has evolved since forming as a chapter of Good Sam Club in May 1971. With constant membership for more than 50 years the club thrives on.  Although Good Sam has modified their chapter commitment, we remain strong.  In January 2023 the club elected to join FMCA as a chapter, continuing a relationship with likeminded individuals with an organization that supports chapter involvement. Initially the club was established in Friendly, Maryland and was named as such. Now our members include the Maryland counties of Anne Arundle, Calvert, Charles, Howard, Prince George’s, Saint Mary's, the state of Virginia and a few full-time Nomads.  We are a welcoming group and have embraced the name “Friendly Maryland Travelers” as our description not our home base. We are always reaching out, inclusive and eager to share our experiences with other campers.  Whether you are a beginning camper or an experience veteran, a Class A or a Teardrop owner, this group, the Friendly Maryland Travelers will be your family if you join.
